Henman Sevogel

Henman Sevogel († August 25, 1444 in Basel ) was a Swiss politician who died in the battle of St. Jakob an der Birs .

Henman Sevogel came from a Basel eight-burger family that has been documented since the early 14th century . His father Petermann Sevogel bought Wildenstein Castle in 1388 and lived a knightly lifestyle. Henman is first mentioned as a minor in 1419. From 1427 he was councilor of the Achtburger. He married Margaretha Anna von Eptingen from an influential regional noble family. On August 25, 1444, Henman Sevogel, who as a captain commanded a force of around 300 men from the Basel region, fell in the battle of Sankt Jakob an der Birs.
