Henning Graf Reventlow

Henning Graf Reventlow , full Henning Lothar Gert Graf Reventlow (born September 22, 1929 in Potsdam , † September 9, 2010 ) was a German Protestant theologian, Old Testament scholar and university professor.

He came from the Altenhof line and the branch of the von Reventlow family, resident on Gut Wittenberg, now part of Martensrade , and was the son of Detlev Graf Reventlow and Edith nee. Angel .

In 1958 he was awarded a doctorate degree from the Georg-August University of Göttingen with a dissertation on the Law of Holiness. theol. PhD. He completed his habilitation in 1962 at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel in the subject of the Old Testament . From 1965 until his retirement in 1994 he taught at the Ruhr University in Bochum . He was visiting professor at the United Theological College in Bangalore , India , from 1994 to 1996 , and at the University of Tartu in Estonia in 1998 .

Reventlow's focus became the history of interpretation and research; his main work was the four-volume work Epochs of Biblical Interpretation .
