Henri Amat

Henri Amat (born August 20, 1813 in Marseille , † May 30, 1891 ibid) was a French politician. From 1871 to 1876 and from 1878 to 1881 he was a member of the Chamber of Deputies .

Amat, who worked as a lawyer in his native Marseille from 1848, lived temporarily in Italy before starting his political career . In 1865 the Republican entered the city council of Marseille. With the establishment of the Third Republic in 1871, he succeeded in moving into the newly founded Chamber of Deputies, the then parliament. In the 1876 elections he was defeated by François Raspail , but moved back to parliament through the by-elections after Raspail's death in 1878. Amat did not stand for re-election in 1881.
