Henri Nibelle

Henri Nibelle (born November 6, 1883 in Briare , † November 18, 1967 in Nice ) was a French organist and composer .

Life

Nibelle studied in Paris at the École Niedermeyer and at the Conservatory , where he received first prizes in the subjects of fugue (1906) and organ (1912). His teachers were Alexandre Guilmant , Louis Vierne , Eugène Gigout and Gabriel Fauré .

He was first choir organist at the Cathedral of Versailles , then at the Paris church of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul . From 1912 to 1931 he was the organist, then until 1959 Kapellmeister at the Saint-Francois-de-Sales church . Carillon Orléanais and the Toccata are known of his organ works , and his Mass héroique is also performed to the present day.
