Henri Prat

Henri Prat (born August 20, 1902 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye , Yvelines department , † February 18, 1981 in Marseille ) was a French biologist.

career

Henri Prat studied at the University of Paris , where he obtained his Scientiæ Baccalaureus in 1920 . In 1922 a degree in physics and chemistry followed and in 1931 a Scientiæ Doctor . From 1931 to 1935 he worked at the University of Montreal as professor and director of the Institute of Biology.

From 1936 to 1945 he taught in France, where he held various positions, including a professorship at the University of Aix-Marseille . In 1945 he returned to the University of Montreal, where he resumed teaching and was again appointed director of the Institute of Biology (1949–1955). During these years he was president of several scientific societies, including the Canadian Society for Natural History (1947-1948) and the Biological Society of Montreal (1950-1951). Between 1926 and 1957, Henri Prat published 114 articles and books. The University of Montreal awarded him an honorary doctorate in 1945 .

He left the University of Montreal in 1960 and worked at the University of Marseille until his retirement in 1975. In 1981 Heinrich Prat died in Marseille at the age of 78.
