Henri Tronchon
Henri Tronchon (* 1877 ; † 1941 ) was a French Romanist and comparativeist .
life and work
Henri Eugène Tronchon passed the Agrégation de grammaire in 1904 and taught at the Lycée Charlemagne in Paris. He completed his habilitation in 1919 with the Thèse La fortune intellectuelle de Herder en France (2 vol., Paris 1920, Geneva 1971). From 1923 he taught at the University of Strasbourg . From 1935 to 1936 he taught at the newly opened Philosophical Faculty in Rio de Janeiro and wrote the book Huit mois au Brésil about it . Activité sociale. Le décor et la vie. Orientations intellectuelles (Paris 1938).
Tronchon was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1936).
