Antoine Joux (* 1967 ) is a French cryptologist .

Joux received his doctorate in 1993 from the École polytechnique (where he studied since 1986) under Jacques Stern (La réduction des réseaux en cryptographie). He conducted research with Stern at the École normal supérieure and was a professor at the Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and is professor of cryptology in the cryptography laboratory of the University of Paris VI . He is also an engineer at CryptoExperts.

In 2013 he received the Gödel Prize for A one round protocol for tripartite Diffie-Hellman . In it he generalizes the Diffie-Hellman key exchange from two parties to any number (using the example of three parties) via the Weil pairing of elliptic curves.

In 1998 he published a theoretical collision attack on SHA-0 with Florent Chabaud and a full attack in 2004. Together with Éliane Jaulmes and Frédéric Valette, he is the author of the Randomized Message Authentication Code (RMAC) protocol .

Since 2005 he has been an advisory scientific expert for the procurement office of the French armed forces (Délégation générale pour l'armement). He also held a leading position in the Direction centrale de la sécurité des systèmes d'information of the French government.
