Karl Åke Henry Allard (born November 21, 1911 in Örebro ; † October 23, 1996 ibid) was a Swedish politician of the Socialdemokraterna .

biography

Allard was first elected in 1943 as a representative of the Socialdemokraterna as a member of the Second Chamber of the Reichstag , to which he belonged until the introduction of the one-chamber system in 1970. He was then a member of the Reichstag until 1979.

Between 1956 and 1969 he was chairman of the Reichssportbund (Riksidrottsstyrelsen) .

In 1969 he was elected President of the Second Chamber of the Reichstag. After the parliamentary reform , he finally became the first president ( talman ) of the unicameral parliament in 1971 and held this office until 1979. Despite the majority of the bourgeois camp consisting of Centerpartiet , Moderata samlingspartiet and Folkpartiet liberalerna under the new Prime Minister Thorbjörn Fälldin , he was re-elected as President of the Reichstag in 1976.

After his death, the city council of his native Örebro decided to rename the Central Park (Centralparken) to "Henry Allards park".
