The President of the Reichstag ( Swedish talman ) is the Speaker of Parliament in Sweden and leads the debate in the Swedish Parliament . The President of the Reichstag also acts as a temporary Reich Administrator , i.e. H. Head of State, ( Swedish riksföreståndare ) when the royal family is not in Sweden.

The President of the Reichstag is the highest-ranking elected office in Sweden and, in accordance with the Basic Law of Sweden, has also proposed the new Prime Minister when forming a government since 1974 .
