Henry Fumba Moniba
Harry Fumba Moniba (born October 22, 1937 in Lofa , † November 24, 2004 in Michigan ) was a politician from Liberia. From 1986 to 1990 he was Vice President of Liberia under the presidency of Samuel Doe .
Vice Presidency
Harry Moniba became Vice President of Liberia on January 6, 1986 under President Samuel Doe . Doe won the first election in 1985, carried out after coming to power in the country in a 1980 coup, with 51% of the vote. After the government was ousted in 1990 and the first Liberian civil war broke out, Moniba fled Monrovia .
Presidential election
After the Liberian Civil War ended and was re-elected for the first time in 1997, Moniba stood for election and ultimately only took seventh place. The election winner was RUF supporter Charles Taylor . Moniba planned to run in the 2005 presidential election, but previously died on November 24, 2004 in a car accident in Michigan.
