Henry Gray, 3rd Baron Gray de Wilton
Henry Gray, 3rd Baron Gray of Wilton (* October 28, 1281 , † December 10 or 16, 1342 ) was an English nobleman.
Henry Gray came from the English noble family Gray . He was the eldest son of John Gray, 2nd Baron Gray of Wilton and his wife Anne de Ferrers . His father remarried after the death of Henry's mother and began in 1307 to allot part of the family estates to his son Roger from his second marriage. After the death of his father in 1323, Henry inherited the title of Baron Gray de Wilton and Wilton Castle , but his half-brother should receive about two-thirds of the family estates according to his father's will. As a result, Henry began a bitter inheritance dispute with his half-brother, in which he even in 1328 forcibly occupied Ruthin Castle , which had been awarded to his brother. The Privy Council then commissioned mediators to reach an agreement in the inheritance dispute. They were able to reach an agreement with the two brothers in June 1328, through which the inheritance dispute was ended. In it Henry had to acknowledge that his half-brother Roger received most of the estates with about £ 850 annual income, while he only got estates with his brother Henry only possessions with £ 283 annual income.
Gray were by the kings Edward II and Edward III. between 1322 and 1335 asked several times for military service in the wars against Scotland and France . He married Anne de Rockley , the daughter and heiress of Ralph de Rockley and his wife Isabel de Clare . With her he had at least one daughter, Maud de Gray, who married John de Lisle, 2nd Baron Lisle , and at least one son, Reynold Gray (1311-1370), who became his heir as 4th Baron Gray of Wilton.
