Henry Gwiazda

Henry Gwiazda (* 1952 in New Britain / Connecticut ) is an American composer.

Gwiazda played guitar in a garage band in his youth. He studied music at the Eastman School of Music , the Hartt School, and the University of Cincinnati . Until 1998 he worked as a music professor at Minnesota State University Moorhead in Cincinnati.

Since 1986 he has composed works for sampler, tape and electric guitar, the live performances at the New Music America Festival in New York and New Langton Arts in San Francisco. the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, the Stedelijte Museum in Amsterdam, the Apollohuis in Eindhoven , De Unie in Rotterdam, and the Cirque Diver in Liège. He was u. a. Awarded First Prize in the SUC Student Composers Competition , a Diverse Visions Grant, and prizes from the Jerome Foundation , McKnight Foundation , Barlow Foundation, and Bush Foundation .

With buzzingreynold'sdreamland and thefLuteintheworLdthefLuteistheworld he created two works in 1994/95 in which virtual spatial effects are generated via two loudspeakers ( virtual audio ). In his compositions, Gwiazda works with both collage and natural noises.
