Henry Hastings (also Henry de Hastings ) (* before 1205; † before August 9, 1250 ) was an English nobleman.

Henry Hastings was a son of William Hastings and his wife Margary le Bigod , a daughter of Roger Bigod, 2nd Earl of Norfolk and his wife Ida. After his father's death in 1226, Henry inherited his estates, including Ashill in Norfolk . Unlike his father, Hastings was a loyal supporter of King Henry III. In 1230 he took part in the king's unsuccessful campaign in France , as well as in the 1242 campaign in the Saintonge , where he was captured by the French at the Battle of Saintes on July 22, 1242. He was exchanged for Jean de Barres . In 1244 he served the king in Scotland.

Hastings had married Ada, daughter of David, Earl of Huntingdon, and Maud, daughter of Earl Hugh of Chester . After the death of John Scotius, Earl of Huntingdon in 1237, his wife Ada became one of his heirs. She eventually received about a third of the Earldom of Chester's estates , including Yardley Hastings in Northamptonshire . With these estates Henry was a crown vassal and his annual income was now more than £ 600. He took a crusade vow in 1250, but died a little later.

With his wife, Hastings had at least one son and four daughters. His heir became his son Henry , who inherited estates in eleven English counties , mainly in the northern and western Midlands . His grandson John Hastings, 1st Baron Hastings, was a descendant of Ada of Huntingdon and one of the contenders for the Scottish throne . Ada of Huntingdon married Sir Ralph Brereton of Brereton , Cheshire , after the death of Hastings .
