The Henry Repeating Arms Co. is a US manufacturer of firearms and is particularly known for the manufacture of lever action rifles in .22 caliber.

history

Louis Imperato († 2007) used the name of Benjamin Tyler Henry , who had invented the Henry rifle in 1860 , from which the famous Winchester lever action rifles later emerged, and founded under this symbolic and well-known name in 1996 together with his son Anthony Henry Repeating Arms Company. Since 1997 the company has been selling lever action rifles in .22 caliber. It was initially produced in Brooklyn , New York City . In September 2008 the company relocated to Bayonne (New Jersey) and currently employs around 250 people. It also has manufacturing facilities in Rice Lake, Wisconsin for u. a. the casings of the lever action rifles. It also manufactures bolt-action bolt action rifles and forend bolt action rifles in .22 caliber as well as a new generation of the AR-7 rifle, which was originally developed for the US Air Force and is known as the "Henry US Survival Rifle", but also large-caliber rifles Lever-action repeater.

The basic model H001, known as the “Lever Action Rifle”, is not a proprietary development of the company or - contrary to the cleverly created impression - a design that goes back to the Henry rifle . Rather, they are largely identical replicas of the EG712 model series from the German manufacturer Erma , which was liquidated in 1997 , although it is not certain whether Louis Imperato only took over the rights and construction documents for the EG712 or also the machines.

The company advertises with the slogans “ Made In America and Priced Right ” and “ Made in America or Not Made At All ” and strives for a reputation for offering excellent customer service, as evidenced by reports in Internet forums and personal experiences also succeeds. Through repeated references to the Henry rifle - for example through the well-known quote of " Load On Sunday and shoot all week long " - as well as through corresponding claims on the company website, the impression is given that the Henry Repeating Arms Company was originally from The company founded by Henry and the lever action rifles produced are the successors of the Henry rifle. In fact, the company has no connection whatsoever to the original New Haven Arms Company , in which Henry worked and developed his Henry rifle and which was renamed the Winchester Repeating Arms Company by Oliver Winchester in 1866 , or to Henry, his development or his descendants.

Since the death of Louis Imperato in 2007, the company has been run by his son Anthony.
