Henry Sire
Henry JA Sire (* 1949 in Barcelona , pseudonym: Marcantonio Colonna ) is a British historian, Catholic author and temporarily suspended member of the Sovereign Order of Malta .
Life
Sire, who has French ancestry, was born in Barcelona. He received his education at Stonyhurst College in Lancashire and at Exeter College in Oxford. In 2001 he joined the Order of Malta and signed a contract to write a book on the history of the order. In addition, he lived between 2013 and 2017 at the order's seat in Rome. The book was published in 2016.
In 2015, Sire Phoenix published from the Ashes: The Making, Unmaking, and Restoration of Catholic Tradition , a highly critical examination of the Second Vatican Council and its impact on the Catholic Church , in which he concludes: “One fact must be clearly stated : The Second Vatican Council betrayed the faith of the Church. This betrayal cannot be made good until it is recognized and undone. "
At the end of 2017, Sire published the critical book The Dictator Pope under the pseudonym Marcantonio Colonna . His English publisher revealed his authorship in March 2018. This immediately led to his provisional suspension from the Order of Malta. The Order of Malta warns its members against taking sides with the book and its author. This could result in regulatory measures up to and including exclusion.
