Herbert Groom

Herbert Bräutigam (born July 5, 1927 in Falkenstein , Vogtland, † June 7, 2020) is a German sinologist .

Life

Growing up in Vogtland, Herbert Bräutigam completed a degree in ethnology and early history in Dresden , Leipzig and Beijing . Bridegroom conducted research in Berlin at the German Academy of Sciences and at the Central Institute for History. From 1979 he was curator of the Japanese Palace at the Ethnographic Museum in Dresden . He worked there until his retirement in 1992. Since then he has devoted himself intensively to calligraphy . With books such as Fairy Tales from Tibet and The Dragon Palace , he reached a wide audience.
