Herbert Klaeren (born November 23, 1950 in Gerolstein / Eifel ) is a German computer scientist . From 1988 to 2014 he taught and researched as a professor for practical computer science at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen .

Klaeren received his diploma in mathematics with a minor in computer science at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn in 1974 . At the RWTH Aachen , he was in 1980 with the thesis A class of algebras with structural recursion and their application in the abstract software specification for Dr. rer. nat doctorate . Eight years later , he also completed his habilitation at RWTH Aachen University with the text An Algebraic Approach to Recursion Elimination .

In 1975 Herbert Klaeren was research assistant for one year at the University of Bonn, and he carried out the same activity from 1976 to 1988 at RWTH Aachen University. In 1988 he was appointed professor of computer science at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen. He retired on April 1, 2014. He runs the company Professor Klaeren software technology.
