Herbert Scheffler

Herbert Scheffler (* 1899 ; † 1947 ) was a German theater and radio play author as well as theater director and author of prose and literary criticism .

Life

Among other things, he received applause as a director in 1925 for his production of Don Juan and Faust at the Bremen Schauspielhaus , where he often directed. He also worked on his own chamber play Das Land im Rück (1926), for which he received the Bremen Acting Prize, as a radio play.

After 1945 Scheffler worked in Hamburg. Other independent stage works, some based on foreign playwrights such as Daudet , include Die Tantenkomödie and Penelope Waits (both 1947).
