Herbert Schein (born July 2, 1965 in Oettingen ) is a German manager and engineer for electrical engineering. Herbert Schein has been CEO of Varta AG since 2016 .

Life

Herbert Schein was born on July 2, 1965 in the Bavarian community of Oettingen . During his electrical engineering studies , he developed a color graphics controller assembly for Siemens in the “Plant for Systems” in Augsburg . After completing his diploma, Herbert Schein worked as a product engineer on integrated circuits for three years. He was the editor of various electrical engineering specialist publications at WEKA Holding . He started his career at Varta in 1991 and is today CEO of Varta AG. Herbert Schein is married and has three children.

Career at Varta

In 1991 Herbert Schein began his career at Varta in application technology and quality management. Three years later he continued his career as an international product manager at Varta. In 2001, he became Marketing Manager for Global Business and then built a global hearing aid battery business . In 2007 he was appointed to the management of Varta Microbattery and has been managing director there since 2008. In addition to the original focus of Varta Microbattery, the production of primary and rechargeable button cells , Schein set the focus on the growth markets, in particular lithium-ion technology and intermediate energy storage . Under his leadership, the company became one of the world's leading manufacturers of micro batteries , and its production capacities have since been massively expanded. In addition, the energy storage systems and lithium-ion manufacturing division was set up under his leadership.

After the successful positioning of Varta AG and its subsidiaries, the company was floated on the stock exchange in October 2017. Since then, the value of the Varta share has developed extremely positively. Varta AG has been listed in the MDAX and TecDAX since December 2019 .

Sponsorship

Herbert Schein is actively involved in sponsoring. VARTA has been a sponsor of TSV Nördlingen and BG Donau-Ries since 2018. At the beginning of 2020, Schein signed a sponsorship contract for a partnership with FC Bayern Munich .

Awards

In 2011 Herbert Schein received an award from the “TOP 100” initiative for top management that promotes innovation.
