Herbert Weltrich

Herbert Weltrich (born December 30, 1918 in Iserlohn ; † July 14, 2006 in Düsseldorf ) was a German lawyer.

After work and military service and subsequent imprisonment of war, he studied law from 1947, which he completed in 1951 with the state examination.

He then entered the judicial service of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in October 1951. In August 1953 he was appointed regional judge in Dortmund and only five years later, in September 1958, he was promoted to higher regional judge at the OLG Hamm .

From 1959 to 1967 Herbert Weltrich was entrusted with responsible management tasks in the Ministry of Justice of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, where he most recently held the position of Senior Ministerial Councilor. On July 1, 1967, he was appointed President of the Essen Regional Court .

Herbert Weltrich was President of the Higher Regional Court in Cologne from March 1, 1978 until he retired on December 31, 1983 . At the same time, he was a member of the Constitutional Court for the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and most recently Vice-President there.

After his retirement, Herbert Weltrich had chaired the expert commission for medical malpractice at the North Rhine Medical Association since December 1984 . He held this office until 1999.

Awards

In November 1984 Weltrich was awarded the Grand Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. On June 1, 2001 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .
