Hercosett

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the textile industry , the Hercosett process (also known as superwash) is used to make wool felt -free . Partial detachment (with the help of chlorine) makes it difficult for the scales of the wool to get caught and to trigger the matting. A wash-resistant film is then placed on the fibers of the wool sliver (preliminary stage before the spinning process) with a polyamide- epichlorohydrin resin, which bonds reactively with the amino groups of the wool keratin. Wool treated in this way is much less sensitive and perfectly suitable for mild household laundry in the washing machine. If the clothing manufacturer observes special processing and assembly guidelines, the item of clothing can even be dried in the dryer.
