The Hercules Point is a headland on the north coast of South Georgia . It is on the west side of the entrance to Hercules Bay . Immediately to the north is Collins Island .

Scientists from the UK Discovery Investigations probably carried out the first survey in 1927 . The name was given by the German explorer Ludwig Kohl-Larsen , who visited South Georgia between 1928 and 1929. The template for this was the name of Hercules Bay, which goes back to Norwegian whalers. It is named after the Norwegian whaling ship Hercules .
