The house at Herderstrasse 59 in Düsseldorf was completed in 1907 according to plans by the architect Wilhelm May in the Heimat style as an outflow of the reform architecture with local materials such as half-timbering , Niedermendiger basalt and Palatinate sandstone . It is a listed building .

description

The shorter facade on Ahnfeldstrasse (now Achenbachstrasse) has a two-axis porch that extends from the floor and divides on the first floor into a loggia with an overlying arbor and a two-storey polygonal bay window. There is also a loggia at the top of the stand. The facade was completed by a large-format gable, which was executed in half-timbered and later covered with slate.

The main part of the longer facade facing Herderstrasse ends with an overhanging gable. The base is made of basalt. The facing of the upper floors is made of yellow flamed sandstone. The gables show timber framework and partly slate. The roofs are covered with beaver tail tiles.

The building in Düsseldorf's villa district has a front garden facing Ahnfeldstrasse (now Achenbachstrasse), which is now a little smaller than it was when it was built, and at the time of construction it had a lavishly furnished winter garden . Offices and practice rooms are located on the ground floor, apartments on the floors above.

It took a year to build and cost 187,000 marks.
