Herdklotz Park

The stove Klotz Park is a 6.8-hectare park in Greenville in Greenville County in the US state of South Carolina . Located about 500 yards off Rutherford Road , it is named after Dick Herdklotz , a former county councilor .

The site used to be the Hopewell Sanitarium , known nationwide for treating tuberculosis patients . After a fire destroyed the sanatorium, the county decided to use the site for a park. The former earth cellar of the sanatorium was preserved when the park was built.

The total length of the hiking trails in the park is 870 meters. The park overlooks downtown Greenville. Used as a recreation area by the local residents, it has, among other things, soccer fields , a playground and a beach volleyball facility .
