Heribert Oswald

Heribert Oswald (born September 22, 1947 in Harmisch , municipality of Kohfidisch ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and special education teacher. From 1987 to 1996 he was a member of the Burgenland Landtag .

Oswald was born as the son of the general school director of Rechnitz Adolf Oswald. He attended elementary school in Harmisch and Rechnitz and then graduated from the secondary school in Rechnitz and the teacher training college in Eisenstadt, where he passed his Matura in 1967. After serving in the Austrian Armed Forces in 1967 and 1968, Oswald became a teacher at the special school in Rechnitz. He passed the teaching qualification examination for elementary schools in 1970 and for special schools in 1974.

Oswald began his political career in 1969 as a councilor in Rechnitz, in 1979 he was elected ÖVP local party chairman and became a member of the Oberwart district party leadership. Between 1982 and 1989 he acted as Vice Mayor and between 1989 and 1992 as Mayor of Rechnitz and then retired again to the position of Vice Mayor. In addition, Oswald was ÖVP district party chairman and ÖAAB district chairman. He represented the ÖVP in the state parliament from October 30, 1987 to June 27, 1996.
