Herman Meijer

Herman Meijer (born February 15, 1947 ) is a Dutch politician ( GroenLinks ).

Life

Meijer studied architecture and urbanism at the Technical University of Delft . He was involved in the gay and lesbian movement ( Rooie Flikkers ) as well as in the peace movement and became a member of the Communist Party of the Netherlands . In 1990 Meijer joined the GroenLinks party . From 1990 to 2002 he was a member of the Rotterdam City Council . From 1994 to 2002 Meijer was an alderman in this city. From 2003 to 2006, Meijer succeeded Mirjam de Rijk as party leader of GroenLinks. He was followed in 2006 as party chairman Henk Nijhof .
