Herman Rouwé

Herman Jan Rouwé (born January 20, 1943 in Grouw ) is a former Dutch rower .

The 1.79 m tall Herman Rouwé from the Triton rowing club in Utrecht formed a pair with a helmsman in 1964 together with Erik Hartsuiker and helmsman Jan Justus Bos . At the Olympic Games in 1964 , the three Dutchmen crossed the finish line in second behind the Americans. The Dutch qualified for the finals with a victory in the third hope run . In the final, the Americans won ahead of the French, the Dutch rowed the bronze medal.

At the 1968 Olympic Games , Rouwé and Hartsuiker sat in the Dutch four-man with helmsman . After finishing second in the first heat, the Dutch were the last to cross the finish line in the semi-finals. With a third place in the B-final, the Dutch came ninth in the overall standings.

Herman's brother Henk Rouwé started as a rower at the 1972 Olympic Games .
