Herman Ulphilas

Herman Ulphilas (* 1702 in Paderborn ; † 1761 in Berlin ) was a German naturalist.

In Dutch service he made sea voyages to the Antilles, Guinea, South America and Batavia (Jakarta). He had offices in Batavia, St. Eustatius and Demerara. His contribution to natural history lies in the collection of important finds that he made available to the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin. At the end of his life he was editor of the magazine for natural sciences .
