Hermann Baatz ( 1845 in Stettin - July 9, 1870 ) was a German theater actor .

Life

Baatz, the son of a merchant, went to the stage after having taken part in performances of the lovers' theater "Urania" a few times. His first engagement in Berlin was Würzburg, later he worked in Lübeck. This was followed by engagements at the court theater in Meiningen , later in Stettin and then in Bremen. His poor health prevented the great artistic career that both Heinrich Laube and Gottschall prophesied. He returned to Stettin from Leipzig, where he had aroused the particular pleasure of Laubes during a guest performance. Here he fell ill with pneumonia and died on July 9, 1870.
