Hermann Eulenberg

Hermann Eulenberg (born July 20, 1814 in Mülheim am Rhein , † October 3, 1902 in Bonn ) was a German medic .

Life

Hermann Eulenberg was born as the son of Hermann Eulenberg and Maria Gerpott, a well-off seed trader, she financed her son's studies. He studied medicine first in Bonn and Berlin and later in Vienna, London and Paris. In Bonn he became a member of the Corps Guestphalia in 1833 . In Berlin, where he became a Dr. med. received his doctorate, Johannes Peter Müller and Theodor Schwann were among his academic teachers.

After completing his studies, he settled in Lennep as a general practitioner. In 1848 he became a district physician in Bonn and taught as a private lecturer at the University of Bonn forensic medicine and drug theory. In 1850 he was appointed district physician in Koblenz and was appointed to the medical council at the Rhenish provincial medical college. In 1855 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina . In 1860 he was transferred to Cologne and appointed to the government medical council. In 1870 he was appointed lecturer in the Ministry of Culture. Since his retirement in 1890 he lived in Bonn. He was a member of the Society of German Natural Scientists and Doctors .

Together with Adolph Erlenmeyer , David Mansfeld and Gottlob Heinrich Bergmann , he founded the correspondence sheet for psychiatry and judicial psychology in 1853 . This later went into the Archives for Psychiatry and Forensic Psychology . From 1871 to 90 he was the editor of the quarterly for forensic medicine and public health services .

Hermann Eulenberg married on March 3, 1849 with Laura Köttgen from Langenberg (born August 21, 1813 in Langenberg, + July 6, 1881 in Berlin, buried in Langenberg).
