Jürgen Billmann (born December 21, 1942 - March 3, 2013 ) was a German soccer player . He played 13 games for 1. FC Nürnberg from 1963 to 1966 in the Bundesliga and scored one goal. His father is the German international Willi Billmann .

Career

Billmann began playing soccer in the youth department of TSV Johannis in 1883. In 1955 he moved to 1. FC Nürnberg . In 1961 he made the leap to the amateurs of the club, a year later to the professionals. After a year in the league and three years in the Bundesliga , he moved to the Regionalliga Süd for SpVgg Fürth . He stayed with Fürth for a year, followed by two years at Freiburg FC , before returning to the club and playing in the regional league for two more years.

In the first year of the Bundesliga, 1963/64, Billmann made his debut under coach Jenö Csaknady on February 8, 1964 in a 1-0 away win at Preußen Münster in the club's team of licensed players. With Roland Wabra (goalkeeper) and field players Paul Derbfuß , Fritz Popp , Horst Leupold and Stefan Reisch , he formed the defensive. In his season with local rivals, SpVgg Fürth, 1966/67, he made 22 regional league appearances under coach Robert Gebhardt and scored two goals. Billmann made his debut on August 20, 1966 in a 3-1 home win against VfR Mannheim in the then second -rate regional football league South . With Klaus Slatina and Robert Ehrlinger , he formed the row of runners in the then usual World Cup system . The "Kleeblatt-Elf" took third place in the south, two points behind Meister Kickers Offenbach and vice Bayern Hof, and with center forward Bernd Windhausen (31 goals) was the top scorer in the league.

In his first season with Freiburg FC, 1967/68, Billmann experienced a start with 0:12 points under coach Fred Hoffmann and teammates such as Werner Anzill , Karl-Heinz Bente , Gert Fröhlich , Jürgen Gensheimer , Günter von de Fenn and Helmut Siebert . The eleven from the Möslestadion finished ninth at the end of the round and Billmann had contributed six goals in 23 missions. With the new trainer Bernd Oles , Billmann and colleagues moved up the table in 1968/69. The 4-1 success on the final day, May 11, 1969, against SSV Reutlingen, brought the FFC the runner-up championship level with champions Karlsruher SC and thus entry into the Bundesliga promotion round. The home game against KSC brought a 3-3 draw in October 1968; in the second leg on March 2, 1969 in the Karlsruhe Wildpark Stadium in front of 32,000 spectators, Billmann and his teammates prevailed with a 2-1 victory. The man from Franconia played 27 rounds and scored three times in the opposing goal.

In the promotion round to the Bundesliga, Billmann met with the FFC on the competitors Hertha Zehlendorf , Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , VfB Lübeck and the Palatinate village club SV Alsenborn . Freiburg opened the group matches on May 24th with a 3-2 win in Berlin against the team around Uwe Kliemann and Wolfgang Sühnholz . After the 3-1 home win against the champions of the Western Regionalliga, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and the following 2-1 away win in Lübeck, a surprise seemed to be looming. Two defeats against the team from Alsenborn led by Lorenz Horr resulted in a tie between RWO and the FFC before the final game on June 25th in Oberhausen, with advantages for the team from Niederrhein in the goal difference. The match ended goalless 0-0 in front of 32,000 spectators and Oberhausen was promoted to the Bundesliga. Billmann had played all eight games and scored two goals, including the winning goal for the 1-0 home win against Zehlendorf.

Now he was drawn back to his homeland, he rejoined 1. FC Nürnberg in the Regionalliga Süd for the 1969/70 round. Coming home didn't pay off in terms of sport. Billmann only made six appearances in two rounds at the “Club” and ended his high-class career in the summer of 1971.
