In the 1967/68 season he played 29 games (1 goal) in the Bundesliga with Karlsruher SC .

Career

Slatina, who came from the FSV Erlangen-Bruck to the Erlangen district association SpVgg Büchenbach , was a member of the championship team of the game association in the amateur league of Northern Bavaria in the 1961/62 season. After two playoffs (0: 1/1: 1) against the southern champion ESV Ingolstadt for the Bavarian championship and promotion to the 2nd South League, he moved to Ingolstadt for the 1962/63 season. In the last year of the old league system with the regional upper leagues, the railway workers qualified with the runner-up in 1963 for the new substructure of the Bundesliga, the Football Regional League South 1963/64. Still acting as a center forward in the World Cup system , Slatina made her debut on August 4, 1963, in a 1-1 home draw against Borussia Fulda at the side of fellow players Ernst Apfelbeck , Horst Blechinger and Willibald Mikulasch in the Regionalliga Süd. He signed up for the first time as a goalscorer and completed 33 games with ten goals for Ingolstadt. In the course of the round he experienced the intensive work of Karl Mai after a coach change ; the ESV held the class with 12th place.

For the 1964/65 round, Slatina signed a new contract with league rivals SpVgg Fürth and moved to Franconia for the "Kleeblatt-Elf". Under coach Željko Čajkovski , he was in the team of Fürth, which on August 15, 1964, was able to send the favorite Bayern Munich home with a 2-1 home win in front of 11,000 spectators. With players like Peter Löwer, Paul Derbfuß, Robert Ehrlinger, Ernst Tauchmann, Norbert Knopf, Richard Albrecht, Ernst Perras, Jürgen Billmann, Hermann Marchl, Bernd Windhausen, the White-Greens finished fourth (1966) and with coach Robert Gebhardt in the season Third place in 1966/67. With two points behind Offenbach and Hof, the Fürth team missed the promotion round and shone with 30: 4 home points and the first round balance of 27: 7 points. In Offenbach and Hof each lost 1-0 and in the home games it was enough to draw two. Mostly in midfield, Slatina had scored seven goals in 30 of 34 round games. In three years at SpVgg Fürth, Slatina, a strong duel, had drawn the Bundesliga attention to herself with a total of 91 appearances and 14 goals. For the 1967/68 round he signed a license agreement with the Baden Bundesliga club Karlsruher SC and switched to the blue-whites of the Wildpark Stadium .

In addition to Slatina, four other players came to the KSC with Jürgen Rynio , David Scheu , Günter Herrmann and Gérard Hausser . Slatina lost the Bundesliga premiere on August 26, 1967 with a 2-0 home defeat against MSV Duisburg. He formed the defensive team of coach Paul Frantz with Eugen Ehmann , Captain Jupp Marx and Helmut Kafka . The newcomer from Fürth experienced a weak round at KSC; with the 18th place the descent and in addition to Frantz also the other coaches Georg Gawliczek and Bernhard Termath . In his second year in Baden he was with the Karlsruher SC under the new coach Kurt Baluses 1968/69 champion in the Regionalliga Süd. With returnees Horst Wild and the newcomer Theo Menkhaus , the Wildpark-Elf had strengthened themselves well on the offensive and striker Christian Müller proved with 23 goals that he was still dangerous. In the promotion round Slatina scored three goals in four appearances, but Rot-Weiss Essen managed to get promoted to the Bundesliga.

After two rounds he moved from Karlsruhe to Mannheim and played for the VfR lawn players for the 1969/70 season. In Mannheim, Slatina experienced two years of relegation battle. In the first year, 1969/70, things only went well with reaching 15th place. Old league player Karl Vetter had replaced coach Heinz Elzner in the course of the round and with the 3-0 home win on May 18, 1970 against 1. FC Nürnberg - two goals from Slatina - the league was successful. In the summer of 1971 the descent of the traditional Mannheim club with the 16th place in the table was certain.

Slatina ended his professional career after two years at VfR Mannheim and returned to his homeland in Erlangen and took over as player-coach for SpVgg Büchenbach for the 1971/72 round. He carried out this task until 1977. This was followed by the station at SpVgg Erlangen (1977/78) and engagements as a trainer at the clubs SpVgg Büchenbach, SV / DJK Weingarts and TSV Eintracht Bamberg.
