The SpVgg 1904 Erlangen eV is a sports club in the east of the Middle Franconian university town of Erlangen with more than 1500 members who are divided into eleven different departments. Just called Spieli in the Erlangen vernacular , the club is one of the largest sports clubs in Erlangen. This is due on the one hand to the diverse range of sports for all age groups, on the other hand to the monopoly position as the only club in Osterlangen.

They are supported by their own cheerleaders, the Erlangen Marines Cheerleaders.

At times there was a successful women's team (Erlangen Sharks Ladies), which, however, left the club almost completely in January 2019 after disputes between the department management and the trainer. In the preseason this had played in the 2nd DBL and reached the semi-finals of the playoffs. Only five of the players stayed with the club.

In the seasons 1915/1916, 1921/1922 and 1932/1933, the game association even belonged to the first division. SpVgg Fürth and 1. FC Nürnberg were the names of the opponents with whom the Spieli had to compete in point games. The black and red experienced their last heyday between 1955 and 1961, when the kickers from the Waldsportpark played in the 1st amateur league Bayern-Nord (3rd league).
