Paul Derbfuß (born October 8, 1937 in Nuremberg ; † May 3, 2015 there ) was a German football player .
Player career
The defender learned to play football at the Nuremberg district club TV 1860 Schweinau , where he also completed his first two senior years in what was then the A-class. In the 1958/59 season he played for VfB Bayreuth in the 1st Amateur League North Bavaria. However, there were no major successes and so Derbfuß moved to 1. FC Nürnberg , for whom he played in the first team from 1959, a total of 175 times until 1965. He played 83 games in the then first-class Oberliga Süd , after which he played 15 times in the newly founded Bundesliga . Together with Helmut Hilpert , Derbfuß, characterized as an uncompromising defender with strong nerves, formed the defense of a successful team that won the German championship in 1961 and the DFB Cup in 1962.
When the Bundesliga was founded, the professional football player was also introduced. Derbfuß decided against a career as a full professional and stayed with the Nuremberg employment office . From 1965 he continued his career as a soccer player at SpVgg Fürth , which still worked under semi-professional conditions in the second-rate Regionalliga Süd . For this Derbfuß completed 115 games in the regional league and six games in the DFB Cup until 1969.
