Roland "Rolli" Wabra (born November 25, 1935 in Prague , † October 17, 1994 on the federal highway 6 ) was a German football player .

Career

Wabra began his football career at SV Unterreichenbach , a sports club in the town district Schwabach in Region of Middle Franconia . Subsequently, from 1954 to 1969, he was active exclusively for 1. FC Nürnberg in 523 missions as a goalkeeper , of which he played 146 in the Bundesliga between 1963 and 1969 . He made his debut on August 24, 1963, the start of the newly founded highest German uniform division, in a 1-1 draw in the away game against Hertha BSC . In the twelve years of his club membership, he won the German championship twice and the DFB Cup once , the national club cup. Wabra was also expelled as the first goalkeeper of the Bundesliga of the field; he received the red card on March 11, 1967 (25th matchday) in a 2-2 draw in the away game against Fortuna Düsseldorf in the 28th minute. The defender Reinhold Adelmann then guarded the gate, as it was not allowed to be replaced at the time. At this point the club was already leading 2-1 and Adelmann only had to accept the equalizer in the 82nd minute. Wabra was not used again until the next season. 1969 Wabra returned to SV Unterreichenbach where he played until 1976.

Others

On October 17, 1994, he was killed on the drive home from Valznerweiher to Unterreichenbach - just like the wrong-way driver he collided with on the BAB 6 .

Wabra's sons were also active as footballers for 1. FC Nürnberg. The younger, Klaus , played a Bundesliga game for the club as an amateur in the 1983/84 season. He then played in the Bayern League for TSV 1860 Munich. The older one, Rudolf, was under contract with Borussia Dortmund, 1. FC Nürnberg and 1. FC Köln, but was not used in the Bundesliga. Abroad he played as a regular at FC Locarno and Royal Antwerp . After his professional career he was under contract with VfL Frohnlach in the Bayern League .
