Hermann Groehler

Hermann Gröhler (born May 1, 1862 in Breslau ; † July 24, 1958 in Schönwald (Bavaria) ) was a German Romance scholar ( linguist ), name researcher and grammar school teacher at the royal Friedrichsgymnasium in Breslau.

Works

His basic works on French place names influenced the French name researcher Albert Dauzat (1877–1955), in particular his research into pre-Celtic roots (e.g. * kal- «stone»).
