Hermann Helms , also Hermann C (hristian) Helms, (born July 2, 1928 in Bremen , † December 26, 2005 in Bremen) was a German shipowner .

Helms was the son of the shipowner of the same name Hermann Helms (shipowner, 1898) and grandson of Hermann Helms . His father took over the German steamship company "Hansa" (DDG "Hansa") as director in 1940 . After completing their commercial training, father and son ran the shipping company Helms KG in the Hansa-Haus at Schlachte No. 5 in Bremen. In 1958, Helms joined the DDG "Hansa" board . Until its bankruptcy in 1980, the company was one of the most important shipping companies in the world.

Helms was a technical advisory board from 1960 to 1974, from 1974 to 2002 a member of the economic council and from 1985 to 1990 on the board of the ship classification society Germanischer Lloyd .

From 1974 to 1980 he was chairman of the Bremer Rhederverein from 1884. From 1969 to 1981 he was on the board of directors of the Association of German Shipowners ; from 1971 to 1972 as chairman of the presidium of the association.

From May 1971 he worked on the board of the then Bremen district association and from 1987 to 2003, like his father, on the board of the sea rescue service of the German Society for Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS). In 2000 he became chairman of the DGzRS as the successor to Carl Max Vater.

In 1993/94 he organized the Schaffermahlzeit in Bremen as the administrative director .
