Hermann Korff called Schmising (* 15th century; † 16th century) was a canon in Münster .

Life

Hermann Korff called Schmising came from the Westphalian aristocratic family Korff , whose branches belong to the oldest rural aristocratic families in the Münsterland . Numerous well-known personalities have emerged from it. He was the son of Caspar (Jaspar) Korff called Schmising and his wife Anna von Merveldt . His brother Wilbrand was canon in Münster from 1535 to 1557. Bernhard , his other brother, was canon of Münster from 1552 to 1595. Hermann's uncle Otto held the office of cathedral dean in Münster from 1484 to 1494 . On September 1, 1507, Hermann matriculated at the University of Cologne and studied law . He also completed a degree in Bologna . In 1510 he is named as canon of Münster. He remained in this office until 1514. The sources do not provide any information about his further life.
