Otto Korff called Schmising (* in the 15th century; † July 30 or July 31, 1494 ) was cathedral dean in Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Otto Korff called Schmising came from the Westphalian aristocratic family Korff , whose branches belong to the oldest rural noble families in the Münsterland . Numerous well-known personalities have emerged from it. He was the son of Everd Korff zu Harkotten and his wife Frederun Ketteler . His brother Heinrich was canon in Münster from 1433 to 1494. His nephews Wilbrand , Hermann and Bernhard were canons in Münster.

Act

Otto can be proven for the first time as a canon on October 22nd, 1443. His election to the cathedral scholaster fell on November 8th, 1460. In this function he was responsible for the management of the cathedral school . In 1484 he received the cathedral mechanic after the death of his predecessor Hermann von Langen . As cathedral dean, he was in charge of the cathedral chapter.
