Heinrich Korff called Schmising (* in the 15th century; † August 1494 ) was a canon in Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Heinrich Korff called Schmising came from the Westphalian noble family Korff , whose branches belong to the oldest rural noble families in the Münsterland . Numerous well-known personalities have emerged from it. He was the son of Everd Korff zu Harkotten and his wife Frederun Ketteler . His brother Otto was cathedral dean from 1484 to 1494. His nephews Wilbrand , Hermann and Bernhard were canons of Münster.

Act

Heinrich is mentioned as a canon in Münster on December 24, 1433. On July 27, 1450 he joined the protest against the appointment of Walram von Moers as bishop. The election of bishops led to the Munster collegiate feud . A short time later, on August 16, 1451, the bishop banned it . Heinrich was elected provost of the Old Cathedral in Münster on February 14, 1459. He belonged to the Domkaland.
