Origin and family

Wilbrand Korff gen. Schmising came from the Westphalian noble family Korff , whose family branches belong to the oldest rural noble families in the Münsterland . Numerous well-known personalities have emerged from it. He was the son of Caspar (Jaspar) Korff called Schmising zu Harkotten and his wife Anna von Merveldt . His brothers Hermann and Bernhard were canons in Münster and Otto , his uncle, was cathedral dean in Münster from 1484 to 1494 .

On September 4, 1535, Wilbrand was appointed administrator of the Frisian Chamber Office by Bishop Franz von Waldeck after Gisbert Ketteler had died.
