Hermann Lauer

Hermann Lauer (born December 26, 1870 in Schluchtern , † November 18, 1930 in Donaueschingen ) was a German theologian, journalist, church historian and local researcher.

Life

His father was a teacher at the Catholic elementary school in Schluchtern . He lived there until he was five years old. He studied theology and in 1894 came to the theological Konvikt in Freiburg im Breisgau as a tutor . In 1901 he became a chaplain in Neudingen . From 1904 he was an editor at the Danube messenger in Donaueschingen, where he was editor-in-chief for 25 years. In 1907 he received his doctorate in Freiburg with a treatise on moral theology Albert the Great to Dr. theol. He then published several writings on church history, including an outline of the church history in Baden in 1908 and a church history of the Baar in 1921 . From 1924 on, general local history topics were added to the writings, including the first scientifically based local history of his hometown Schluchtern. The municipality of Leingarten , which Schluchtern merged in 1970, named a street after Hermann Lauer in the year it was founded.
