Hermann Poech

Hermann Poech (born July 24, 1895 - † June 16, 1965 ) was a German engineer and steelworker .

Life

Poech worked 1921–1961 in the steelworks of the Bochumer Verein für Gußstahlfabrikation AG . In 1927 he became head of operations there and in 1935 chief engineer. In 1938 he took over the management of the five steelworks of the Bochumer Verein, whereupon he was appointed operations director. Despite his blindness, he played a key role in the planning of the new oxygen inflation steelworks , which went into operation in November 1957. During the last years of his career, he was in charge of the steel mill's patent department and technical library.

Poech continuously participated in the joint work of the Association of German Ironworkers (VDEh) , so that as chairman of the Siemens-Martin-Stahlbetriebs committee from 1940–1952 he also headed the steelworks committee of the VDEh.
