Hermann Protze

Hermann Protze (* 1866 in Leipzig , † 1942 in Berlin ) was a German organist , composer and music publisher .

Life

In addition to his work at the “Musikhaus Hermann Protze” in Leipzig, he was an organist and composer as well as his own publisher. His Practical School for Harmonium (op. 22, Munich 1907, in German, English and French), which was reissued decades later , made him famous far beyond Germany's borders .

In 1905 the family moved from Leipzig to Berlin. The music store on Potsdamer Strasse was given up after the inflation, and the music store in Steglitz was bombed out in 1943.
