Hermann Strangemann (born May 8, 1912 in Gelsenkirchen-Erle ; † July 16, 1985 in Gelsenkirchen ) was a German businessman and from 1898 to 1982 owner of the Strangemann textile company in Gelsenkirchen-Erle. He held numerous honorary positions and was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for this .

Life

Hermann Strangemann was the son of the textile merchant and member of the Gelsenkirchen-Buer magistrate Hermann Strangemann sen. The family history is closely linked to the Strangemannshof in Gelsenkirchen-Scholven. Hermann Strangemann, junior spent his childhood. in Gelsenkirchen-Alder. He later attended the Schloss-Gymnasium in Düsseldorf-Benrath. He then completed an apprenticeship as a textile merchant at Gebr. Leffers (later SinnLeffers ) in Delmenhorst. At the age of 24, after the death of his father, he took over the family business, which he continuously expanded.

Hermann Strangemann was married to the master tailor Margarete geb. Albers. The marriage had three children.

In 1982 Hermann Strangemann retired from the business world at the age of 70 and died in 1985 after three years of retirement.

Engagement and honorary positions

From 1934 Hermann Strangemann jun. For decades he was a member of the examination committee for textile trade of the Munster Chamber of Commerce and Industry .

From 1945 he was a member of the supervisory board of the purchasing association HADEKA (Handelszentrale deutscher Kaufhäuser) in Frankfurt for several decades .

Since 1955 he was a member and from 1975 several years chairman of the approval committee of the credit guarantee association of the retail trade in NRW (later the guarantee bank ).

In 1969, Hermann Strangemann and other businesspeople founded the Erle advertising community. For several years he was its chairman and later also honorary chairman.

In 1979, Hermann Strangemann, as chairman of the citizens' initiative “Save the Erler Hospital”, campaigned for the preservation of the hospital in Gelsenkirchen-Erle. In this role he held talks with Minister of Social Affairs Friedhelm Farthmann in Düsseldorf. The hospital was preserved.

Hermann Strangemann was an associate judge at the social courts of Gelsenkirchen and Münster for several years .

He was the protector of the MGV 1887 (Heideblümchen). The local rifle clubs held rifle festivals under his patronage.
