Friedrich Johann Hermann Tigler (born December 22, 1881 in Gelsenkirchen ; † October 25, 1960 in Düsseldorf ) was a German entrepreneur and show jumper .

Life

Hermann Tigler comes from a family of manufacturers and large merchants originally from Krefeld . His grandfather Moritz Tigler (1814-1875), businessman and founder of the machine factory Moritz Tigler in the Ruhr area and later in Meiderich, and his father Johann Hermann Tigler sen. (1849-1917), industrialist in Gelsenkirchen, Düsseldorf (since 1888) and Wiesbaden (since 1904), founder of the Grafenberger Walzwerk GmbH in Düsseldorf-Grafenberg (1897), as industrialists made a decisive contribution to the development of the Ruhr area during the early days .

After high school and training, Hermann Tigler joined the mechanical engineering stock corporation Tigler in Duisburg-Meiderich, which his father had founded. In view of his outstanding achievements, he became director in 1906 and shortly afterwards sole member of the company's board of directors. In 1926, his company specializing in crane construction merged with Demag (Deutsche Maschinenfabrik AG in Duisburg). The construction of the four largest floating cranes in the world and a ship lift in the 1930s are closely linked to his name. Hermann Tigler was a board member for the crane construction department in the new company until 1950 and later also for the Demag excavator factory in Düsseldorf-Benrath, Demag-Zug GmbH in Wetter / Ruhr (today Demag Crane), Demag Greiferfabrik GmbH and Demag Stahlbau. After leaving Demag, in 1950 he took over the management of the family-owned Grafenberger Walzwerk in Düsseldorf as managing partner, which in 1921 produced cold-rolled sheet metal for the automotive industry on the European continent for the first time.

In addition, Hermann Tigler was a successful, enthusiastic tournament, hunting and show jumping rider until 1953. On his 75th birthday, he received the German Riding Cross in silver and other awards.

He was married three times; 1904 first marriage to Hermine Anna Margarete (Margit) Zobel (* 1875), daughter of the King. prussia. Major General Eugen Zobel and Elise v. Wedel, second marriage, in 1918, with Louise Clara Maria Werth (1889-1972) and from 1937 with Liese-Lotte (Liselotte) Krüger (* 1914). The first marriage had two children, the second four, and the third two.
