Hermann Weidemann (philosopher)

Hermann Weidemann (* 1942 in Leipzig ) is a German philosopher and historian of philosophy .

After studying philosophy , theology and Latin philology in Heidelberg and Freiburg i. Br., Which he completed with a doctorate in 1974, he completed his habilitation in 1982 in Münster. This was followed by substitute professorships at the Universities of Erlangen / Nuremberg and Göttingen from 1983 to 1985 and at the University of Hamburg from 1988 to 1989. In 1990 he was appointed full professor for the history of ancient and medieval philosophy at the University of Leiden . In 1991 he was offered a full professorship for philosophy at the University of Bonn .

Research focuses on ancient and medieval philosophy as well as the philosophy of language .
