Hermann von Mengersen

Hermann von Mengersen († around 1585) was Drost in Rodenberg and Sachsenhagen .

The von Mengersen family had their headquarters in Rheder (Brakel) .

In 1523 Hermann von Mengersen took over the village of Reelkirchen and a farm as a fief of the bishop of Paderborn.

The rule of Schwalenberg had fallen to the nobles of the Lippe and the diocese of Paderborn. After Hermann had both pledges from 1526/28, he led the development of the city to a new bloom. From 1558 his son Thilo von Mengersen took over the successor as Drost.

In 1571 Count Otto IV of Holstein-Schaumburg pledged the Sachsenhagen moated castle to him . In 1582 Hermann von Mengersen also became Count Landdrost and in 1584 took over the moated castle Hülsede .

He was married to Ilse vd Born. He left 11 sons and 5 daughters. His son Jürgen von Mengersen inherited the moated castle Sachsenhagen, which he had to leave again after Count Adolf XIV. Paid him the pledge in 1596. Jürgen von Mengersen then moved to Hess. Oldendorf.

His epitaph is in the parish church of St. Katharina in Rheder.
