Hermes Andreas Kick (* 1944 in Spaichingen ) is professor of psychiatry at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg and a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts .

biography

Kick received his doctorate in Heidelberg in 1969 with a paper on psychiatric pharmacotherapy at the Paris School .

In his research, Kick deals with questions of medical ethics and questions the economization of psychiatric and psychotherapeutic treatment. He heads the Institute for Medical Ethics, Basics and Methods of Psychotherapy and Health Culture in Mannheim and regularly holds seminars at various universities. In dealing with current societal crisis areas, as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist, on the basis of an anthropological approach, he turned to current medical-ethical problems and fundamental questions of ethics and value formation.

He not only cooperates with scientists, but also maintains diverse relationships with artists. For him, ethical and aesthetic questions are among the central challenges of our society. With the composer Violeta Dinescu he has performed a number of productions, mostly world premieres, among others on texts by Karl Jaspers Aulos and Kithara (2009), as well as Maladies salutaires (2010) at the Mannheim Ethics Symposia, which have been taking place regularly for over a decade in the Mannheim Palace . , Tauromaquia (2012) and Exodus (2018) realized.
