Hernando's hideaway

Hernando's Hideaway is a tango that was written by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross in 1954 for the musical The Pajama Game . In the original version of the musical and the musical film Picnic in Pajamas , the song was sung by Carol Haney .

The song was covered many times; a successful version comes from Archie Bleyer , who achieved second place on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1954. A version of The Johnston Brothers reached number 1 in the English charts. The instrumental part of the song was used in the film Snatch - Pigs and Diamonds . Ella Fitzgerald recorded a live version of the piece at Carnegie Hall. Also Alma Cogan sang the song.

A German version under the title Fernandos Cabaret with a text by Klaus Günter Neumann was sung by Bruce Low in 1956 .
